Wastewater exposure environments require careful specification to match the actual chemistry and biological activity present. Hydrogen sulphide, sulphuric acid, chemical dosing residues and biological attack all drive different specification requirements. Working with the client and coating system suppliers, we specify systems matched to the real exposure rather than applying a generic wastewater default. Where the environment is unusual or particularly aggressive, we can arrange manufacturer input to validate the specification before installation.

Where an asset cannot be fully taken out of service, works are typically delivered through phased possession of tanks or bays, out-of-hours working, or coordination with treatment cycles. Full asset shutdown is used only where the works genuinely require it. Programme is planned around the operator’s treatment continuity requirements, not our convenience. Confined space and PPE requirements for wet chamber environments are planned into every scheme.

Chloride and sulphate ingress drive reinforcement corrosion and concrete deterioration in water assets in the same way they do in highway and coastal structures. The assessment approach combines chloride profiling, sulphate content testing, half-cell potential mapping and cover surveys to establish the extent and rate of deterioration.
