When something has failed, or is about to, the priority is different. A spalled balcony edge over a public footpath, a delaminated concrete panel above an occupied space, a bulging façade element, a fire-damaged column, a fresh crack that has appeared overnight. These situations do not wait for a survey, a specification and a tender. They need a response now.
CRS provides emergency and make-safe works to remove immediate risk, secure the affected element and protect the public and building users while a considered longer-term repair is planned. We mobilise quickly, work at the pace the situation requires, and coordinate with the client, the building management team, local authority, and where relevant the police and highways authority.
Make-safe works are not permanent repairs. The purpose is to remove the immediate danger and buy the time needed to specify and deliver the right long-term intervention. Loose concrete is removed and edges made safe. Debris nets, hoardings and protection to public routes are installed where required. Falling elements are propped or supported. Access to affected areas is restricted or controlled. Photographs, defect maps and a written record of what was done are provided as part of the handover.
Where the emergency reveals a wider structural issue, CRS provides the follow-on survey, specification and repair as a coordinated service. The team that made it safe returns to deliver the permanent repair, with continuity from the emergency response through to final handover.
Emergency and make-safe works are delivered nationally, at the pace the situation requires, using IRATA rope access, MEWP or scaffold as the safest and quickest access method for the situation.
